Tata Punch is the latest addition to Tata Motor’s popular ‘New Forever’ range of cars and SUVs. Punch is the Tata’s most affordable and first SUV built on ALFA-ARC (Agile Light Flexible Advanced Architecture), developed under Impact 2.0 design language.

2022 Tata Punch Engine

The Tata Punch is powered by a three-cylinder naturally aspirated, 1.2-litre Revotron petrol engine, which produces 86 hp and 113 Nm of torque. It can be had with either a 5-speed manual or an AMT automatic gearbox. While this engine already does duty on the Tiago, Tigor and Altroz, in the Punch, it additionally features automatic engine start/stop functionality to aid fuel efficiency. The Punch has an ARAI certified fuel efficiency of 18.97 kmpl on manual and 18.82 kmpl on automatic variants. The AMT gearbox on the Punch also sports traction modes like the one seen in Harrier and Safari. Tata motors claims that the Punch can do 0-60 km/h in 6.5 seconds and 0-100 km/h in 16.5 seconds.

The Tata Punch has scored 5-star rating (16.453) for adult occupant protection and 4-star rating (40.891) for child occupant protection in Global NCAP crash test. The Punch is third car from Tata Motors to receive this recognition after Altroz in January 2020 and Nexon in December 2018.

In terms of features, the base Tata Punch Pure variant is equipped with dual airbags, ABS, ISOFIX child seat anchors, front power windows, central locking and engine start/stop tech. The Adventure variant, meanwhile, adds in kit such as an audio system with four speakers and steering mounted controls, electric adjust wing mirrors, rear power windows, follow-me-home headlamps, a USB charging socket and full wheel covers.

The Accomplish variant sports features such as a 7.0-inch touchscreen, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity, a rear-view camera, fog lamps, keyless go, cruise control and 15-inch stylised steel wheels.

2022 Tata Punch customisation options

The Tata Punch is also being offered with customisation packs for the variants. The Pure and Adventure variants are offered with a Rhythm pack, Accomplish variant is available with Dazzle pack, while the Creative and KZR variants can be had with a IRA pack, respectively.

The Rhythm pack for the Pure variant adds in an audio system with four speakers and steering mounted controls, while on the Adventure it upgrades the standard audio system to the 7.0-inch Harman touchscreen with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.

On the Accomplish variant, the Dazzle pack will sport projector headlamps, LED DRLs, 16-inch diamond cut alloys and a black finished A-pillar. The IRA pack for the fully-loaded Creative trim, as the name suggests, adds in Tata’s iRA connected car technology with What3Words and Natural Voice tech to the package.
