The Jeep India has started accepting bookings for the locally-assembled Wrangler in India and will be launched on March 15, 2021. The 2021 Jeep Wrangler will be the second model to roll-out from the brand’s Ranjangaon, Maharashtra plant. The fourth-gen Wrangler was imported to India as a Completely Built Unit (CBU).
The made-in-india 2021 Jeep Wrangler will be nearly identical to the CBU model but will attract lower taxation, with the benefit being passed on to customers. The currently-sold Jeep Wrangler priced between Rs 63.94-68.94 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi) is imported to India under the law that allowed the import and sale of 2,500 vehicles a year without them having to be homologated. Hence, the local-assembled 2021 Jeep Wrangler will be priced lower than the CBU model.
“Jeep has always represented the ultimate in capability and open-air freedom, and we are incredibly proud that our Made-in-India Wrangler protects that important legacy in the market. The Jeep Wrangler is the second out of the four localised products we committed to launch in India. We wanted to make the world’s most recognised SUV even more accessible to our Indian customers and we are pleased to be able to meet their aspirations.” Partha Datta – Managing Director, Jeep India said
The fourth-gen 2019 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited was available in the fully-loaded Sahara variant. The Standard kit had features like 7.0-inch multi-info display, an 8.4-inch infotainment screen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, dual-zone climate control, ambient lighting, a tyre-pressure monitoring system, rear AC vents and multiple 12V sockets and USB ports.
The new Jeep Wrangler will be powered by the same 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine with 262 bhp and 400 Nm of peak torque, mated to a 8-speed automatic transmission. The 2021 Jeep Wrangler is expected to offer safety features like ABS with EBD, four airbags, front and rear parking sensors, a rear parking camera, Electronic Stability Control (ESC), electronic rollover mitigation, traction control and, hill-start and descent control. The Jeep India will be revealing the specifications, features and more details of the locally assembled 2021 Wrangler on March 15.
